Jesus & Muslim

Yipeeee~!!

I waited so patiently for one whole week for this to happen!

One of my students brought a Children's Bible for me to read to the class.
The whole class sat on the carpet as they usually do for read aloud time.
As I was reading a page on Easter,
a student raised her hand and asked,
"Ms. Han, you're wearing a Jesus necklace."
I answered her,
"Yes, it's almost a Jesus necklace.
But this (held up the cross) is called cross."
She asked,
"Why do you wear a cross necklace?"
I explained,
"I wear this cross necklace because Jesus died on the cross for me.
That's why I love Jesus and wear this necklace.
This necklace reminds me how much Jesus loves me."

Then I went back to the line I was on and finished reading the story on Easter.

I was so happy and even wanted to jump up and down and shout,
"Yipeeee!"

Jesus, I love You!

Then a student blurted out,
"I love Muslim God."

I just nodded and said a silent prayer over him as I was smiling at him.
'God, help him to grow up to know You and be a man of faith.
In Jesus name. Amen.'

My journey as a Christian teacher in a public school has only begun...
LORD, give me much wisdom and knowledge as I look for ways to plant the seed of faith in these tiny children.

WYRGAN=WORRY

"WORRY"

Word History:
Worrying may shorten one's life, but not as quickly as it once did.

The ancestor of our word, Old English wyrgan, meant "to strangle."
Its Middle English descendant, worien, kept this sense and developed the new sense "to grasp by the throat with the teeth and lacerate" or "to kill or injure by biting and shaking."
This is the way wolves or dogs might attack sheep, for example.
In the 16th century worry began to be used in the sense "to harass, as by rough treatment or attack," or "to assault verbally,"
and in the 17th century the word took on the sense "to bother, distress, or persecute."
It was a small step from this sense to the main modern senses "to cause to feel anxious or distressed" and "to feel troubled or uneasy," first recorded in the 19th century.

So...

Are you worried? Stop killing yourself.
I worry, and I need to stop killing myself.
Let's turn to God and live our lives to the fullest in Christ Jesus.

Psalm 55
Verses 16~17
As for me, I shall call upon God, And the LORD will save me.
Evening and morning and at noon, I will complain and murmur,
And He will hear my voice.
Verse 22
Cast your burden upon the LORD and He will sustain you;
He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.

Amen.

Magnolia the Best

These are Southern magnolia (Magnolia grandiflora).
They are known for their distinctive, clean, and citrus fragrance.

I like flowers in general, but I like magnolia the best.
There are many different kinds of magnolia. I heard that there are about 80 species of magnolia trees and large shrubs. I like the ones that are big and plump, which have thick and rounded petals. I like the pink/purple magnolia better than the white ones, but it's really hard to find the plump pink/purple magnolia. I see the skinny purple magnolia along the streets often, but not the plump ones. I wonder if I can get the plump white magnolia for my wedding! ;D

Orchid Show

There was an orchid show in the Skyline Room where Karen and others performed their Hawaiian dances. I walked around and took some pictures of the ones I liked.
This was my favorite. I like how the petals are big and round almost like a combination of white and purple magnolia. Beautiful colors!
I like orchids, but I do not like the fact that
it is hard to take care of them. Also, they don't have any fragrance.
What an orchid with my friend's first name! They are beautiful.
Pure white! God is an amazing artist!

Karen's friend who grows her own orchids at home.

Hawaiian Dance

I love Karen!
Karen is our retired kindergarten teacher.
I really like her as a person and respect a lot as a former teacher.
She is loving, patient, and wise.
Karen is fully enjoying her retirement.
One of the many fabulous things she is doing includes
taking Hawaiian dance classes with her friend Sue who is also a retired teacher.
This was their annual performance at Cerritos Library in the Skyline Room.
I was so glad that I could make it though I was late.
I hope to be there on time next year to watch the whole performance.
It was time for everyone to join and follow the teacher.
Karen dragged my hand to join her.
I was hesitant at first, but I had so much fun up there!
kkk... Then I had some fun taking pictures in the beautiful, bright sunlight in the elevator.
It's really fascinating that the amount of the light can change how the images in pictures look like. I believe that's what a lot of wedding photographers do when they take pictures.
Having some more fun. Is my left eyelid swollen? ;p

100th Day of School

100 days already?!

Yes, my beloved kindergarteners and I have come to school for 100 days
to learn, grow, cry, and laugh together.

God, help me to love each and every one of these children
and
teach them wholeheartedly every day.
